Responsive Design & Development
Responsive Design is a must for every website, whilst ensuring that the site is crafted to the needs of the business. The reason for this is due to the vast amount of different screen sizes, from small screens on mobile phones to the massive screens you find on desktop computers. Not only this, the browsers used to view your site all operate slightly different. Due to this, if your website hasn't been developed with all this in mind then it can look very different to how you want it to, not to mention that it can appear either too big or too small for the screen being used to view it.
How responsive a website is can also affect where it places on search engines such as Google, Bing or Yahoo. A website that is is not responsive or not responsive enough will rank lower on these sorts of sites than better developed websites.

Website Makeover
The internet, and the world itself, is a fast moving thing and what was once considered the best of something is soon thought of as obsolete or unattractive. Quite often both. This train of thought applies as much to websites as it does to other areas of life, such as cars and clothing, which is why it is important to keep your website up-to-date both in appearence and how it operates. Not keeping up with the times can have a lasting affect on how the website user will view your business. If your site is old fashioned, who is to say they won't think the same of your business?
Having a modern website brings with it a lot of benefits. Ensuring that your website looks nice and well designed not only helps it be easier to find on search engines, but will also entice visiters to want to stay on your website for longer and potentially even use your services. Amongst the best websites out there are clear and clean presentation and are easy to navigate.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
It's a given fact that in order to get customers and clients to your website, they will need to be able to find your website. One of the biggest ways for this to happen is to have your website appear when your intended audience uses a Search Engine (i.e. Google, Bing and Yahoo). It is due to this that ensuring a website appears at the top of search engine listings is a must for businesses wanting to hit or even exceed their targets and revnue.
If you want to see how important being found on a search engine is, then take a look at Renolons's article regarding the topic. As per Renolon's findings, Google processes over 3.8 million searches per minute, with Bing processing 121 thousand and Yahoo processing 63.65 thousand searchs in the same time period. These figures alone helps show that ensuring your site is properly optimised is an absolute must.
The Aim Of Search Engine Optimisation
In order for SEO to be effective, you will need to consider a number of areas. Search engines rank websites dependent on a number of things, such as how fast pages of your website loads; how usable and responsive the site is on different browser and screens, along with how easy users can actually navigate around the site; and how often the same content is duplicated.
To further increase the effectiveness of SEO, in-depth research is carried out for keywords alongside your nearest competitors. The results of this work is then used to tailor your website, which will further boost the ranking of your site when your intended audience completes a search on Google, Bing or Yahoo.

The Steps To Success For A Great Website
In order for the the website to be created a number of steps need to take place to ensure that it meets the requirements and specification set out for it. Throughout the lifecycle of the project The Crafty Developer provides regular updates to ensure everyone is happy with the progress of the design and development of the website. This would typcially be a weekly update, however this can vary depending on the needs and length of the project.
Step 1
Discussing Your Needs and Requirements

Quite possibly the most important step - this is where you present The Crafty Developer with a detailed brief describing what it is you need. If for whatever reason this is something you are unable to provide, then we can discuss your requirements without one. From here research will be carried out and a no obligations proposal drawn up with what you have stated you require, alongside recommendations that are a result from the research. You will then be given a chance to review the proposal and discuss this to ensure that everything is how you like it. If all is in agreement, a final proposal will be drawn up which details what will be done to complete your project. Only when that final proposal is approved by all parties will work commence.
Step 2
Design
Designs are drawn up encompassing the functionality and appearence of your website which was agreed upon in step 1, and passed to you for review. Depending on what is needed, further discussion and a Technical Specification may be needed to ensure the functionality of your website is exactly how you want it. Once everything is in agreement, the sourcing of images and written content will begin (or supplied by yourselves if you already have what is needed).

Step 3
Development Begins

This is where the fun part begins, your website starts to take form. The framework of the site is set up alongside the pages which will contain your content; and the required functionality set out in proposal and technical specification. Images, website navigation; contact pages; hero headers; and social media links will also be generated.
Step 4
Testing and Review
By this stage your website will be ready for testing. Regular testing is done throughout step 3 to check that the completed work does what it is meant to, however like with all good things further testing, by The Crafty Developer and yourself, is needed to ensure that the website meets the requirements. This also allows you to review the website and for us to discuss any possible amendments.

Step 5
Website Deployment

This is where the fun part begins, your website starts to take form. The framework of the site is set up alongside the pages which will contain your content; and the required functionality set out in proposal and technical specification. Images, website navigation; contact pages; hero headers; and social media links will also be generated.
